Types of Protection Orders
Being clear about the type of protection order you need in your particular situation is vital to securing the protection you need for you and your family.
- Domestic Violence Order for Protection. This order of protection involves the court telling a family or household member not to harm you. It can order the recipient not to enter your residence, give you temporary custody of your children and order the recipient to leave the residence you share.
- Restraining Order. If you’re facing issues with child or spousal support, property or child custody, a restraining order is generally filed as part of a family law case and can prevent the recipient of disposing of your assets.
- No-Contact Order. You don’t have to file paperwork with the court for a No-Contact Order, as these orders are court-issued as part of a criminal action.
- Civil Antiharassment Order. For people who are not married or related, a Civil Antiharassment order is most appropriate for stalking situations where a person is being harassed but not physically harmed or threatened.
During your initial consultation, we can discuss what types of orders would be most beneficial for your case and begin working with you to get the process started.
